This is by far the best razor clamming beach in the world. Come and experience this beautiful beach, unspoiled and chock full of clams!
Clamming at "Polly Creek"
We launch the boat at Deep Creek in Ninilchik and head straight for the base of Mt. Redoubt on the west side of Cook Inlet. Slightly south of this active volcano is a huge bay with a beautilful island at the head. We motor in as the tide is recedeing and wait until the boat is high and dry. Then the fun begins! There is litereally miles upon miles of pristine beach exposed by the minus tide. The clams are huge, sweet and fairly easy to dig. There is plenty of time to fill your buckets and there are NO LIMITS..so keep on digging! Once the tide comes back in Captain Nick will take you to the back side of the island where thousands of gulls nest and rear their young. It is truly amazing to see this. These trips are contingent upon minus tides. Book early as they sell out fast! $125.00 per person.
Captain Nick can sure dig clams. He shows off a nice one here!
Captain Allen is THE king of diggers. No one digs as fast or as many. Best of all he gives his share away! He doesn't like to clean them!
Now that's a boat of clams! The Captains wife has them all rinsed in fresh salt water for the journey home!
CLAMMING TIDES FOR THE 2012 SEASON
TIDE DATES COMING SOON!
There is plenty of beach for all. Anyone who has ever dug at Clam Gulch or Ninilchik will certainly appreciate the vastness and desolation of this incredible place!
The Hooksetter awaits the incoming tide to return back to the east side of Cook Inlet.
The Old Cannery sits behind the island. A virtual ghost town, one can imagine how it once was a thriving industry.
