Alaskas Kenai River & Ocean Charters is owned and operated by Alaskans Nick & Pam Fortney. Captain Nick was born and raised in Alaska with over 30 years of experience fishing the waters of the Kenai Peninsula. From the Kenai River to the salt water of Cook Inlet. Nick has the knowledge and passion for fishing to make your fishing dreams become memories of a lifetime. Our team of guides are all expereinced and professional with a shared passion for fishing. Pam has assisted guests for over 15 years in planning their adventure to Alaska. Our goal is quite simple, to share the bounty and beauty of Alaska with you.
The Kenai River, world famous for the largest King Salmon in the world, also boasts the return of 3 other species of salmon. Her turquoise glacial fed waters are home to some of the largest native rainbows in Alaska. Dolly Varden, native and sea run abound in her waters as well. Whether you are a novice or seasoned angler, no other river will challenge you or reward you like the Kenai.  She is 80 miles long from her head waters at Kenai Lake to the mouth in Cook Inlet.  Home of the wolrd record King Salmon at over 97 pounds, this river is world class by any standards.  The only river in the world to have 7 year return king salmon, they are big, strong and a fight not forgotten. In May the first run of King Salmon begin their journey from the salt waters of Cook Inlet to this river of their birth. June sees the first run of sockeye which run quickly up river to the Russian Lake system. July sees the larger run of Kings as well as hundreds of thousands of sockeye. The fish just keep coming through August with two runs of Silver Salmon as well as Pink Salmon in the even years. The native Rainbow fishing heats up in August and continues through September.

What a great catch for these east coast boys!
The salt water of Cook Inlet, where fishing opportunities await you for Trophy Giant Pacifc Halibut, King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Salmon Shark, Ling Cod, Rock Fish and Cod. May brings the Halibut into the inlet from the deep waters of the Gulf of Alaska and huge schools of King Salmon begin the journey to river of their birth. Combo fishing for both of these species is prime during the month into the beginning of June.  From June until September we primarily target the Halibut, however Shark, Cod and Rays will find their way to your bait!  The end of July see the return of  Silver Salmon which are a challenge on light tackle. We also offer Ulitmate Multi Species Trips where the giant Ling Cod and other Rock Fish lurk on the rocky bottom as well as Halibut.  Large tides create tremendous rip lines where the monsters lie in wait of currents filled with bait fish. A backdrop of 4 active volcanoes and whales feeding the rich waters, this is Alaska at her finest.  Experience matters when fishing this water.  With the second largest tidal surge in the world, minus tides will see almost 40 feet of water movement in 6 hours.  Captain Nick has been licensed by the USCG since 1984 and fished these waters all his life.  Safety and comfort are a priority at Alaskas Kenai River & Ocean Charters.  Our salt water boat is USGC inspected and outfitted with top of the line safety gear as well as the finest in rods and reels.
